Shōchū is a Japanese distilled spirit, clear in color, made from a variety of different ingredients including barley, buckwheat, rice, sweet potatoes and sugar. Unlike a 40% ABV Vodka, Shōchū is usually 25% ABV which is stronger than Japanese Sake. Shōchū is often described as earthy and nutty in taste with little fruitiness.
